Ruta 40

Wednesday 30th March 2011
Still on the bus. We're travelling along the infamous route 40, our journey a little over 1850km! It's pretty unique in that for a major road, large sections are like a farm track and it takes hours to get anywhere. It's being upgraded, but one imagines it will be many years before it's radically improved. Through the journey it's fair to say we've not seen and towns that really deserved a stay so we feel justified in heading straight up to Bariloche.
Our home for 30 hours.
Mid afternoon came and the films started. First we had Flirting with Forty, a romance with a very botoxed Heather Locklear. Next Hunt to Kill, much like Commando with wrestler Steve Austin as the lead (no great acting there). Finally Drive Angry 3D in 2D and no glasses were supplied. Nicholas Cage was in this one. We think they got steadily worse, but they entertained, though not as much as the Jackie Chan ones on the bus in Ecuador.
Slowly working on the road.

We finally arrived at Bariloche bus station at 1:30am, jumped in a cab and headed for our hostel. The 30 hours actually went quite quickly with the films, some comedy podcasts and a few hours sleep all helping to pass the time away.
